Please help support Alcohol & Drug Services in your local community

Why Donate to ADS?

hope-for-helpADS has placed a high priority, for over 40 years, on making a difference in the lives of our clients. We are a non-profit human services organization that strives to be relevant, organized, effective, and fiscally responsible with the funding that drives our programs and our mission.

Our organization excels at providing high quality services and has learned over many years to survive & thrive through hard work, love for what we do, and a sustained commitment to help those in need who are struggling with alcohol and drug problems and desperately trying to move forward in life.

Addiction and substance abuse are widespread issues in our society. They affect our families and communities. They impact our lives often in dramatic ways. Nonetheless, addiction and substance abuse are both preventable and treatable! ADS believes in the power of positive change. Our staff consists of committed professionals, each of them qualified & dedicated to making a lasting difference in the lives of children, adults, and families.

Your concern and your support of our mission is very much encouraged and always appreciated. As a non-profit, ADS accomplishes so much while stretching every dollar that we receive.

A large portion of our services are supported through donations, grants, fundraisers, and State and Federal monies. Much of the funding that ADS needs has been cut in recent years. With these cuts, ADS has been forced to sometimes trim or discontinue viable programs resulting in a loss of valuable services to people in need. This is almost always tied to a sudden loss of critical funding.

ADS welcomes you in considering ways to support our organization. Each year, we help educate thousands of children on the dangers of drugs. We help to empower adults striving to overcome addiction and to regain their independence, self-esteem and productivity. We constantly aspire to help enrich people’s lives so that they can, in turn, live a quality life and give back to their families and community. You can help us to achieve all of this.

donate-ads3We do need your support. Monetary donations of any amount are so beneficial in sustaining our programs. Donations help to pay for treatment, prevention, and intervention services provided to children, teens, and adults in need. Thank you in advance for possibly considering us as a recipient of your generosity. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of many people.

More on supporting ADS programs & services

learningAddiction does not discriminate. It doesn’t care how much money you make or what kind of car you drive. It crosses every socio-economic and cultural line. Rich or poor, young or old, the scourge of addiction affects lives no matter who you are or where you come from.

Everyone knows someone who has been affected by the epidemic of substance abuse. People don’t have to go far up their family tree or across their friendship network to find someone whose life has been severely impacted by addictive disease. But there is good news.

The good news is that substance abuse is preventable and the disease of addiction is treatable. Research has shown that substance use by adolescents can often be prevented through evidence-based intervention strategies. Research has also established reliable treatments that allow individuals with addictive disease to recover and regain control of their lives.

ADS provides prevention, early intervention and treatment services to individuals and families impacted by substance abuse.

ADS prevention services are designed to affect change among individuals and communities affected by addiction. ADS provides comprehensive prevention services that utilize best practice strategies to enhance protective factors and reduce risk factors, address all forms of drug use or abuse, meet identified consumers’ needs, enhance family relationships, and foster healthy community or social norms. ADS prevention services have four main focus areas: Empowering Families, Supporting Schools, Building Communities and Helping Children Thrive.

A Story of Change

ico-finished-projects“C.A.R.E.S. has benefited me by giving me something positive to be involved in instead of the negative things I was involved with before. I am going to be part of C.A.R.E.S. until I can’t anymore, so that I can help other people that might need positive direction in their life like I did.” ~Chris, a C.A.R.E.S. youth teen

Our treatment services are offered in an outpatient setting and are designed to treat individuals who are abusing or have become dependent upon alcohol or other drugs. We provide assessment and referral, individual and group counseling, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, opioid replacement therapy and HIV testing.

On the heels of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, funding from once reliable sources is decreasing. But now, more than ever, an increasing number of individuals in our community need our services.

ADS leadership has made a commitment to a better future by embarking on a bold journey to ensure the stability of our crucial programs. By connecting with a caring community, our directors want to ensure that, as the gap between funding and necessary services has widened, the community’s understanding of substance abuse and the consequences it has on the quality of life of individuals and society, grows. The Commitment to a Better Future Campaign supports our goal to provide program stability now and into the future.

returnRegardless of their proven effectiveness and return on investment, funding for prevention programs has continued to decrease year after year. Each year, drug abuse and addiction cost NC taxpayers $12.4 billion in preventable health care, law enforcement, crime, lost work productivity, premature death, disability, unemployment, homelessness and many other social problems. For every $1 spent on prevention programs, there is a return on investment of $18. The savings is clear, and the benefits  of prevention programs to individuals and society as a whole are invaluable. ADS’ programs are a vital service to the community and are in need of support. This  campaign will help ensure our programs continue to be healthy and thriving.

Your generous gift will make all the difference for the children, young adults, and individuals we strengthen and the communities we serve. Your gift demonstrates your Commitment to a Better Future for all of us.

A Story of Gratitude

ico-finished-projects“Johnny has evolved from a man that I didn’t care much for into a man that I love dearly! I can only devote my sincere gratitude to ADS, which has completely transformed this man into the responsible person that he is today. The services of this agency are highly beneficial for people’s lives. Based on my experiences with Johnny, I would highly recommend this agency to anyone who is suffering from an addiction.” ~Tammy

Our agency knows all too well the societal and personal costs of substance abuse. Aside from the devastation, disrupted lives and other emotional, psychological, and physical abuse caused to individuals and families, society also pays. We also understand that substance abuse can be a distasteful, discouraging and disheartening topic. But it exists and it impacts every single one of us. Through our prevention, education and treatment programs, ADS helps to reduce this impact.

We strive every day to reduce the costs to our community and to the individuals and families that come to us for help.

ADS is committed to transforming the effects of substance abuse into the effects that sobriety, health and well-being can have on individuals, families, and the entire community.

In addition to the personal stories of the individuals we serve, our outcomes are also testimony to the quality of care we provide. When you compare our outcomes with the outcomes of other programs across the state, the difference is clear. The graph below displays responses compiled from consumer interviews conducted 6 months after beginning treatment services.

Control over Life – consumers who reported the services they received were very helpful in helping them gain control over their lives during treatment.

Hope of Future – the services they received were very helpful in increasing hope about the future during treatment.

Quality of Life – consumers who reported the services they received were very helpful in improving their quality of life during treatment.

family-healthyAs substance abuse affects all, so does recovery. When individuals, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, friends, neighbors, and professionals, commit to a better future through ADS, the ripple effect of recovery and hope begins. Together — the most qualified staff, the evidence-based programs and measurable outcomes, the individuals who make the difficult but life-changing journey, and a caring community — we can make a difference.

“I have had the pleasure of experiencing the C.A.R.E.S. program through the ‘Life Skills’ and ‘Too Good for Drugs’ programs. I even got to sit in on one of the ‘Life Skills’ sessions that taught about positive decision making and dealing with peer pressure. After the program, I saw a different group of kids! They were making more positive decisions and were better able to deal with peer pressure. This program is very beneficial, and I would love to see this program in many more communities.”
