Anthony Steele Attends NC Heroin Summit

Anthony Steele is the Director of Medical Services at Alcohol and Drug Services. In the video below, Dr. Steele addresses a variety of questions about Piedmont Triad community concerns regarding the local opioid addiction problem.
A focus of the Heroin Summit was on the multi-level benefits of instituting harm reduction tools in the community to preserve life and to reduce people’s risk of accidental overdose. The opioid epidemic has grown into a national concern that will require the combined effort of medical & treatment personnel, law enforcement officials, and the larger community in order to impact this alarming problem.
The Triad community has made significant strides within the last two years to address the heroin addiction issue that blasted into public awareness in 2013 and 2014. More work certainly remains to be done in order to resolve opioid addiction in North Carolina and around the country.
